Description
5-Bromo-2′-deoxyuridine (BrdU) also known as Broxuridine is a halogenated thymidine analogue which is widely used to measure DNA synthesis and to label dividing cells, due to its ability to incorporate into DNA instead of thymidine during the S phase of the cell cycle. BrdU is also considered as a potential antineoplastic, as its competition with thymidine to incorporate into DNA, results in DNA mutation as well as the inhibition of cell proliferation.
