ZELLX® T4 DNA Polymerase is a high-fidelity, DNA-dependent DNA polymerase derived from bacteriophage T4 and optimized for DNA end repair, blunt-end formation, and second-strand DNA synthesis. The enzyme combines dual functionality, performing both DNA polymerization and exonuclease reactions, which enables precise processing of DNA termini in molecular biology workflows.
A defining feature of T4 DNA Polymerase is its strong 3′→5′ exonuclease proofreading activity, which ensures high-fidelity DNA end processing. This activity allows efficient removal of 3′ overhangs while the polymerase activity fills in 5′ overhangs, resulting in clean, blunt-ended DNA fragments suitable for cloning, labeling, and library preparation applications.
