Description
PBS Tween™20 refers to a solution that combines phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with Tween 20, a non-ionic detergent. PBS is a commonly used buffer solution in biological and biochemical experiments, providing a stable pH and osmolarity for maintaining the integrity of biological samples. The addition of Tween 20 to PBS creates a PBS-Tween solution, often used as a washing or blocking buffer in various laboratory techniques such as Western blotting, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), and immunohistochemistry. Tween 20 helps to reduce non-specific binding and improve the efficiency of antibody-based assays by reducing surface tension and promoting the uniform distribution of reagents.
PBS Tween™20 (PBS-T) is particularly useful in applications that involve the interaction of antibodies with proteins or other target molecules, as it enhances the sensitivity and specificity of the detection process. It aids in minimizing background noise and improving signal-to-noise ratios, leading to more accurate and reliable experimental results. ZELLX® PBS-T, for instance, is composed of 0.14 M NaCl, 0.0027 M KCl, 0.05% Tween™ 20, 0.010 M PO43- with a pH of 7.4 at 25°C.
