Blue Gel Loading Dye (6X) is a pre-mixed loading buffer designed for visual tracking of DNA migration during electrophoresis agarose or polyacrylamide gels. It consists of two tracking dyes (Bromophenol blue and Xylene Cyanol FF) to track DNA sample migration through the gel. Bromophenol blue migrates at approximately 300-500 bp on a standard 1% TBE agarose gel and 150 pb on a standard 2% TBE agarose gel. The migration of Xylene cyanol FF is comparatively slower and it migrates at approximately 4000-5000 bp on a standard 1% TBE agarose gel and 800 pb on a standard 2% TBE agarose gel. The included EDTA in the buffer protects the DNA sample from metal-dependent nuclease degradation, and the glycerol keeps the DNA at the bottom of the wells and prevents diffusion of the samples out of wells.
