Description
Hygromycin B is purified from the bacterium Streptomyces hydroscopicus to be applied as an aminoglycoside antibiotic against bacteria, fungi and higher eukaryotic cells. It inhibits protein synthesis via disrupting the translocation at 80S subunit of bacterial ribosomes.
